About Us

Nicholas Memorial Centre for Mental Health and De-Addiction centre is in the arena of mental health and de-addiction for the last eight years under the expert guidance of Dr. Nicholas Christy. A brainchild of Dr. Christy, this institution carries forward four decades of his experience in Mental Health. This 50 bedded centre is located in C.S.S building in Poovanpuzha and is one of the prominent mental health centres in Kollam district. An able team of 25 health professionals assist Dr. Christy in this endeavor of relentless service.

There is a surge in mental disease throughout the world. People are more anxious, depressive and the competitive world pushes men and women to certain mental imbalances which require unique support from mental health professionals equipped with latest knowhow and treatment methods. We at Nicholas Memorial Centre for Mental Health and De-addiction centre strive to be in par with modern day trends that is happening in Mental Health.

At Nicholal Memorial Centre for Mental Health and de-addiction, every patient is approached in a unique manner. A holistic approach is followed throughout the entire treatment procedure. Be it Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, substance and alcohol addiction, we tackle every case in systematic way catering to the patient’s peculiar requirement.

Dr. Nicholas Christy M.B.B.S., D.P.M., R.C.P. &S., Ireland F.I.P.S

Dr. Nicholas Christy obtained his M.B.B.S from T.D. Medical College Allapuzha. His dream was to become a surgeon. But destiny offered him something else. He joined for further studies at Royal College of Physician and Surgery (Ireland) under the guidance and advice of his brother Dr. Alexander.

He worked and studied in Ireland for 7 years. During this time Neuropsychiatry was going through a phase of drastic changes and developments. After his stint of studies and service in Ireland for seven years, in 1988 he moved to West Indies (Jamaica) to add one more feather to his cap by taking a Diploma in Neuropsychiatry. His foresight was evident from the fact that he completed his Diploma by taking an additional specialization in De-addiction.

After his return to hometown Kollam in 1988, he rendered his service to Ammachi Veedu Temple Trust Hospital and Ferns Medical Center from 1988 to 2017. In his career span starting from 1980 until now he treated millions of mentally sick patients to find their rhythm in life.

He also imparts training to bring out a new crop of professionals who are well versed in the art of psychology. His course Psychiatric Training for Nurses is a much sought after course by all the major nursing training institutions in and around Kollam. He trains nursing students in Bishop Benziger School of Nursing, Upasana School of Nursing, Parabrahma School of Nursing, N.S. School of Nursing, Travancore Medical College and DNS, Mar Ivanious School of Nursing, N.S. School of Nursing, Christuraj School of Nursing, Thevalakkara School of Nursing, L.M.S –BB Hospital, S.S.M.School of Nursing and V.N.S.S. College of Nursing.

Apart from all these trainings, he conducts several other trainings like Psychology Students Training, Training for MSW students and Social Workers Training.
